Biography

Adrian Gmelch, born in 1993 in Rosenheim, works in corporate marketing. He studied political science, communication, and social sciences in Eichstätt, Rennes, and Paris. Since he could see and read, he has had two hobbies: film and literature. In the beginning, Gmelch not only made a few short films himself but also actively wrote film reviews and articles for magazines such as Splatting Image and DEADLINE. He has also pursued his passion on Wikipedia, writing hundreds of articles focused on film and television, some of which have been recognized by the community as “noteworthy articles.”

In 2021, he published his first non-fiction book, Die Neuerfindung des M. Night Shyamalan, with Marburg-based Büchner Verlag, followed a year later by Art-Horror (2022). In 2023, M. Night Shyamalan: Interviews was released as part of the well-known U.S. book series Conversations with Filmmakers by the University Press of Mississippi. That same year, Gmelch published his first novel, Der Taxidermist(2023). In 2024, the books David Lynch Begreifen and Perspektiven auf Robert Eggers’ Filme followed.
